What to Expect from Matchbox Mix 6 (2022)

With the full contents of mix 5 now revealed by Matchbox on Instagram, we can now extrapolate what mix 6 will likely look like by digging back into the 2022 line preview from The Gathering last July, as well as what has already been sneaked in Instagram.  None of these are set in stone because delays in production or licensing can push cars to a later than expected release date, but here’s what I expect to see:

From the 2022 Line Preview:

  • VW ID.4
  • 2018 Toyota 4Runner
  • Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
  • Citroen Ami
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E
  • 2020 Audi e-tron
  • Kia Seltos

This looks to be one of the most EV-heavy mixes of the year, though we have yet to see sneaks of the ID.4, Audi e-tron, or Kia Seltos, so it’s hard to confirm whether they will be ready in time for mix 6.  The rest have been shown in prototype form, with a near-final painted version of the CT5-V Blackwing making an appearance on the Matchbox Instagram a few weeks ago.

From Past Sneaks:

  • McLaren 720S in gray or yellow
  • Porsche Cayenne Turbo in black
  • Subaru SVX in green
  • Porsche Panamera in white or red

These are all car’s we’ve seen in sneaks that appeared to be painted and nearly ready for production.  The McLaren 720S was shown at different times wearing both gray and highlighter yellow coats of paint, and the Porsche Panamera appeared in both white and dark red in the same sneak, so we can assume both colors will be making an appearance soon.  The black Porsche Cayenne Turbo was a surprise appearance to much internet fanfare, so hopefully it’s going to appear in the mainline shortly.

From everything we’ve seen so far, Mix 6 is shaping up to be one of the best Matchbox mixes of the year!  Now we just have to wait several months for it to appear…
